As the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship advances to Valencia for Round Five & Round Six of the season, Tom Blomqvist aims to build on the momentum of his points-scoring weekend in Rome.
Continuing the NIO 333 FE Team’s 100% point-scoring record in this year’s championship, Tom collected a brace of top-ten finishes on the streets of the Italian capital - with two controlled and measured drives to claim P10 and P8 in each race respectively.
Looking to extend that success, Tom arrives at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia for the season’s third double-header event.
Making its race debut on the calendar, the 3.37km circuit in Spain has been a regular fixture during pre-season testing over the years and will mark the first time the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has ever raced on a permanent circuit.
With a variety of fast, sweeping turns and tight, technical corners, the circuit is set to provide some exciting action throughout the weekend.
Kicking off early on Saturday morning, the first Free Practice session gets underway at 07:20 local time (06:20 BST) with the second Free Practice session following at 09:15 local time (08:15 BST). Qualifying for Round Five follows at 11:00 local time (10:00 BST). The green flag for the E-Prix will fly at 15:00 local time (14:00 BST).
Resuming on Sunday, the drivers will make use of a third and final Free Practice session at 08:00 local time (07:00 BST). Qualifying follows shortly after at 10:00 local time (09:00 BST) with Round Six of the championship scheduled to begin at 14:00 local time (13:00 BST).
Viewers in the UK can catch all of the action live across the weekend. Free Practice will be available via Formula E’s YouTube channel with qualifying and both races live on BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport website and the BBC Red Button.
“I think Formula E has done a great job creating this new circuit," Tom said. "I am sure the track layout will provide exciting racing – it’s a less typical Formula E circuit, but nevertheless it’s going to have its own challenges. We want to keep at least one NIO 333 FE car in the points in every race, which has been super positive for the team so far, and we aim to continue that run of form heading into Valencia. It’s not going to be easy as there hasn’t been much time between events so it’s a really challenging time now with the upcoming races, but we’ll be pushing hard for some more point finishes.”
