MB Partners are delighted to announce that Tom Blomqvist will make his debut at the historic 24 Hours of Le Mans next month in the GTE Am class with HubAuto Racing.
The 26-year-old will contest the 88th running of the event alongside Marcos Gomes and team owner Morris Chen. Collectively they will take charge of the #72 HubAuto Racing Ferrari 488 GTE.
The team were invited to compete in the race having won the GT class of the 2019-20 Asian Le Mans series in the same machinery.
The race itself was originally due to run in its traditional month of June but has been rescheduled to September 19-20 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Tom is excited to begin his preparations for the event and is looking forward to his first taste of the illustrious endurance race as he brings a wealth of GT knowledge to the team having previously competed in WEC, VLN, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup - boasting a victory at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in 2018.
Le Mans marks the second bucket list event of the year for Tom following on from his debut at the revered Bathurst 12 Hours in February, in which he claimed a second-placed podium finish.
“I’m beyond thrilled to be making my Le Mans debut,” Tom said. “It’s an event that’s been missing from my CV for a long time so I’m very excited to get out on track. Le Mans is one of the biggest sporting events of the year and it’s brilliant we can still have the race this year. I’m very grateful to Morris and the rest of the HubAuto Racing team for the opportunity.”
