Tom Blomqvist, Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s reserve driver, will take the reins of the Jaguar I-TYPE 4 for the final two races of the 2019/20 FIA Formula E season in Berlin.
Recently signed reserve driver, Tom Blomqvist, will partner Mitch Evans in the Panasonic Jaguar Racing team for the final two races of the season (August 12/13) at the Tempelhof Airport in Berlin, Germany.
Having already spent the previous week supporting the race team from Jaguar’s teambase in the UK with simulator work, Tom will now join up with the race team in Berlin for his first FIA Formula E race with Panasonic Jaguar Racing.
Replacing the outbound James Calado, Blomqvist brings with him experience of the championship having previously contested six E-Prix with the BMW Andretti Formula E team during the 2017-18 season - with an eighth place finish in Marrakech on his debut being his standout result.
“I am so excited by the opportunity to go racing with Panasonic Jaguar Racing and to get behind the wheel of the Jaguar I-TYPE 4. It will be an interesting couple of races with a new layout on the Berlin circuit but I can’t wait to get started.
“To be back in Formula E with a fantastic team like Jaguar feels fantastic. I'm very much looking forward to catching up with Mitch and the team, and trying to help them deliver the best results possible.”
Jaguar’s team director James Barclay: “Tom has arrived in Berlin having supported the team over the last week back in the UK at our team base. He has a tough job ahead of him, but he is really up for the challenge. His previous Formula E experience and knowledge will stand him in good stead. The whole team look forward to seeing him on track on Wednesday and Thursday.”
