Tom Blomqvist joins ROWE Racing for Nürburgring 24 Hours

MB Partners are delighted to announce that Tom Blomqvist will join ROWE Racing to contest the upcoming Nürburgring 24 Hours.

Tom and the team have enjoyed a successful partnership together in the past, claiming a second-place podium in VLN in 2018. Tom also scored a third-place finish at last year’s qualifying race for the Nürburgring 24 hour event.

Well-versed in GT and endurance racing, Tom has a class victory at the 2018 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps to his name alongside a second-place podium finish at VLN in the same year and also took pole position and the fastest lap of the race on his way to third place in VLN 1 in 2019.

The 26-year-old will utilise his vast experience of BMW machinery for his fifth appearance at the 24-hour race and will once again take charge of the team’s #98 BMW M6 GT3 in the highest class of the event - SP9.  He will split driving duties with Marco Wittmann, Lucas Auer and Philipp Eng.

The race itself has been rescheduled from May to September as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and will see more than 100 cars tackle the revered Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit.

Regarded as one of the most infamous circuits in the world, the “Green Hell” sits as one of the biggest challenges a racing driver can face. The 15.77-mile circuit consists of 170 turns and comprises the original Nordschleife layout as well as much of the Grand Prix circuit and, over a demanding 24-hour distance, creates a true test of both driver and machine.

“I’m delighted that the opportunity arose to represent ROWE Racing at the 24 Hours Nürburgring again,” Tom said. “I’ve been involved in this fantastic race a few times already, I’ve come close to the win before and I know the BMW M6 GT3 and the team so I think that I have enough experience to be able to help the team. We have a very strong team with which we will hopefully be able to get a good result.”

The event takes place from 24-27 September with the race itself getting underway on Saturday 26th September at 15:30 local time.
