Tom Blomqvist is looking forward to making his third appearance at the revered Total 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps as he returns to the scene of his 2018 victory.
The 26-year-old claimed a stunning overall win at the 2018 edition and returns to the Ardennes forest with HubAuto Racing, the team he made his Le Mans 24 Hours debut with earlier in the year.
Rescheduled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the race will see Tom bid for overall glory once again as he gets behind the wheel of the #27 HubAuto Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 alongside Marcos Gomes and Kamui Kobayashi.
Held since 1924, the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps is the biggest GT race in the world and the 2020 will mark its 72nd running. The race will boast 56 GT3 cars representing 11 world-leading manufacturers.
With the race renowned for its temperamental climate even in summer, an October running of the event will create even more variability in weather and track conditions alongside significantly more night running.
“The 24 Hour of Spa Francorchamps is one of the highlights of the year,” Tom said. “I’m thrilled it’s able to go ahead and I’m really looking forward to reuniting with everyone at HubAuto Racing as well as welcoming Kamui to the team. I know what it takes to win here and I'll be drawing on that knowledge and experience this weekend. All in all, we should be in for an exciting and rewarding weekend.”
Kicking off with practice at 11:10 local time on Thursday morning, pre-qualifying takes place at 15:15 followed by all four qualifying sessions from 18:55. Night practice is then scheduled for 20:35. Friday sees just two sessions on the schedule with the warm-up at 17:30 and the Super Pole session at 18:20.
The race itself is marked to begin at 15:30 on Saturday afternoon, running through to Sunday afternoon.
