Blomqvist fired up for Monza with JOTA

Tom Blomqvist is looking forward to this weekend’s 6 Hours of Monza, the third round of the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship.

After a sensational pole position and a thrilling duel with the sister JOTA machine in Portugal, Tom and his #28 teammates, Sean Gelael and Stoffel Vandoorne, are excited to get back out on track and aim for their third LMP2 podium finish in as many races.

The team are currently third in the LMP2 Drivers’ standings, only 13 points behind the #38 JOTA at the head of the field. With second and third place results so far this season, the team have their sights firmly set on the top step of the rostrum.

The high-speed Monza circuit hosts a WEC event for the very first time and the thrilling nature of the 5.793km track will make the LMP2 class a scintillating category to watch throughout the weekend.

“I’m really excited to be heading to Monza,” Tom said. “I haven’t raced there for quite a while but have really fond memories so it’s great to go back. The LMP2 cars go hand in hand with the characteristics of the track so I cannot wait to get out there and experience it for the first time. As a team, we felt we had the pace to win in Portugal, hopefully we can make it happen this time around.”

A busy schedule will see Tom take to the track on Friday afternoon for the first of three Free Practice sessions at 15:30 local time (14:30 BST). The following two Free Practice sessions take place on Saturday at 09:30 (08:30) and 14:00 (13:00) respectively. The grid order for the race will be set in Saturday evening’s Qualifying session at 18:00 (17:00). The green flag for the race will then fly at 12:00 (11:00) on Sunday.

For viewers in the UK, Eurosport will host live coverage of the event alongside the official FIA WEC app. Live timing will also be available through the FIA WEC website.
