Blomqvist completes positive pre-season testing programme

Tom Blomqvist and the NIO 333 FE Team have completed a positive pre-season testing programme in Valencia, ahead of the opening round of the 2020-21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship next month.

Following the announcement of Tom’s signing with the team for the upcoming season last week, the team travelled to Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia for the final testing opportunity before the opening round of the season in Santiago, Chile in January.

The three-day test allowed Tom the chance to acquaint himself with the #88 NIO 333 FE 001 car and conduct a comprehensive testing programme combining wet-weather running with qualifying and race simulations. The 27-year-old completed more than 250 laps across the week with the team completing more than 530 in total.

Tom’s attention now turns to the season-opening double-header in Santiago on 16-17 January.

Tom Blomqvist, #88 NIO 333 FE 001:

“It’s been a really productive few days in Valencia and a good foundation to build on. We completed more than 530 laps as a team, which is the highest on the grid, so there’s plenty of data to analyse before round one. It was key to familiarise myself with the team and the car, and relearning the various processes required. The week has been promising from all aspects and I thoroughly look forward to getting the season underway in Santiago next month.”

Christian Silk, Team Principal, NIO 333 FE Team:

“Overall we had a really encouraging test. As a team we made great progress in Valencia; we have a large amount of data to look at and, for sure, we will go to Santiago in a stronger position than we have at the start of previous seasons.”
